23/8/2011 Pupils leave their mark on School!

10 students from Arnold Hill have had the opportunity to work with local Graffiti artist Smallkid in designing and spraying a whole wall in School.

The wall, which was approved by the Senior Leadership Team in school hopes  to capture the school values and depict the diversity of the school.

All the work on the wall was carried out by the pupils with the support of the artist Smallkid which included painting the wall, spraying the characters and the background and adding fading and designs to the characters and their clothes.

The project, which was set up by Extended Services and the Art department in school was designed to give the pupils a sense of ownership and pride in the wall whilst teaching them the difference between positive and negative graffiti.

One of the students said; "I've really enjoyed the workshop and cant wait to show my friends the great work which we've achieved"!

15/8/2011 4Uth Holiday Activity Programme is a huge success...

During the week of the 8th August 2011, Arnold Hill hosted various adventurous and unique activities for children, young people and families from the local area.

Monday 8th August saw over 60 children and young people tackle the 25 foot climbing wall provided by The Mill Adventure base.

With the sun shining on Tuesday 9th, over 54 children tried their hand at golf delivered by Mark Battison, a professional golfer.

On Wednesday we were not so lucky with the weather, although again a number of children and young people battled the elements to have a go at Archery, which was provided by Adrealin Jungle.

With the wind roaring on Thursday, this provided perfect conditions for our family Kite Making and flying workshops.

On the final session of the week we housed White Post Farm's Animal Roadshow, with families being able to stroke and hold various animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, ducks, snakes, spiders, cockroaches, mice and lots lots more!

With over 200 children, young people and their families attending these sessions, the week was a huge success and we hope to provide a similiar if not better programme again next summer.

All photos from the week will be added to the 'Holiday Activity' section under the 'Events' tab over the forthcoming days.

11/05/11 Big Cooks Little Cooks!

The technology department has again been running cooking classes for parents and their children from our partner primary schools.

The six week course saw families cook healthy meals and learn skills to help them to continue to cook together at home. One parent commented, “this was an enjoyable course which has enhanced my cooking skills and provided me with healthy food ideas for family meals”.

The families cooked a range of meals including lasagne, pizza, risotto, hot pot, stir fry and curry. The course has been a real success and has also been a great opportunity for young children to have a positive experience within the secondary school which they may attend. Another parent said, “we have really enjoyed the cooking classes and it has been fun to spend quality time with my child in a school environment”.

The classes, which were set up by the Extended Services Coordinator Luke Smith and Mrs Norris from our technology department, are set to continue in June with a new group of families coming from the feeder schools. As the interest in these classes was so high, we plan to run more courses throughout next year. These and future courses/activities can be found on the Extended Services website: www.arnoldhill-es.co.uk.

4/11/09: ARNOLD BACKS NOTTINGHAMS WORLD CUP BID!

The Arnold Hill Family of Schools are delighted to provide their backing to Nottingham's efforts to become a host city for the 2018 World Cup.

The campaign which is being driven by Nottingham Forest FC and Nottingham City Council will hopefully see Nottingham showcase the festival of football.

There are 14 other cities vying for the prestige of hosting the competition, with Nottingham up against local rivals Derby and Leicester as well as the likes of Sheffield, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham and Newcastle.

The 15 cities will be whittled down to ten in December so it's vital that the city receives your support!

To pledge your support, please click the here: Back The Bid!
